Ford menyatakan bahwa mesin EcoBoost I3 turbocharged 1.0 liter yang menjadi dapur pacu Start akan segera diproduksi. Ini akan digunakan pada mobil-mobil kecil masa depan keluaran Ford. Bahkan Ford mengklaim tenaga EcoBoost I3 turbocharged 1.0 liter setara dengan mesin bensin I4 yang lebih besar.Sambil menggambarkan Ford Start sebagai jenis mobil konsep yang dapat kita terima sepenuh hati, para jurnalis AutoWeek sepakat memberikan acungan jempol kepada mobil konsep ini.
“Untuk mobil kecil seperti ini, desainnya luar biasa, ditambah dengan penggunaan teknologi Ford EcoBoost dengan mesin I3 yang canggih,” ujar Roger Hart, editor eksekutif AutoWeek, seperti dirilis dalam Media Ford, Jumat 30 April 2010.
Sementara itu, Group Vice President Design sekaligus Chief Creative Officer, Ford Motor Company J Mays mengatakan, sebagian desainnya diilhami pertumbuhan megapolitan yang sangat cepat. Start adalah mobil solusi masa depan. “Kami ingin merancang mobil yang sesuai dengan karakteristik pribadi yang memancarkan kehangatan, daya tarik, dan aspirasi,” ujar J Mays. (hs)
